Bloodshot drunkards in dim hotel bars,
Winding roads lined with broken down cars,

I once met a veteran who was missing an arm,
Told me he'd lit up the night sky with air strikes in Vietnam,
We shared a drink by the fireplace coals,
And he wept for his comrades who died alone,
